The Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) successfully hosted the ZIC Sports Bonanza 2026 at Gombani Grounds in the South Pemba Region, bringing together community members in a vibrant event focused on health, unity, and awareness.
The initiative aimed to encourage a culture of regular physical exercise while also educating the public on the importance of insurance in everyday life. The event was officially launched by the District Commissioner of Micheweni, Hon. Khatib Juma Mjaja, through a ceremonial walk that began at PBZ Chake Chake and concluded at the event venue.
In his address, Hon. Mjaja praised ZIC for its commitment to community development, highlighting the bonanza as a valuable platform for strengthening social bonds and promoting healthier lifestyles among citizens.
The one-day event featured a series of football matches involving multiple teams, creating an exciting and competitive atmosphere. The event was officially closed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports, Mr. Mattar Zahor Masoud. Team Voxy emerged as the winner, earning qualification to represent Pemba in this year’s finals.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Mattar commended all participants for their enthusiasm and encouraged greater community participation in future editions. He also urged ZIC to continue organizing such impactful events annually.
